The Loop Real EstateMany of the residential skyscrapers of the Loop area of Chicago boast such features as exercise facilities, swimming pools, ample storage, and the additional convenience of service facilities, such as Laundromats. Depending on where you choose to live, you will also find many buildings that offer secure-resident parking facilities. The residential buildings within the Loop also offer great views and easy access to downtown activities like work, food and fun.

One-bedroom condos typically sell for between $200,000 and $600,000 in the Loop District. Two-bedroom condos start at $300,000 and range upwards to $900,000. If you need more space in your apartment, the cost of your residence could easily exceed one million dollars. If money is not a problem for you, a recent listing for an apartment at the top of Chicago’s World, offered a sumptuous 7600 square foot duplex, with 360-degree views. This beautiful apartment with expansive ceilings, architectural detail, a private-elevator, and two heated parking spaces, as well as a whirlpool, sauna, sundeck and state-of-the-art fitness center, was located near Lake Michigan in the Chicago-Loop at 310 Michigan Avenue. With a healthy $5.9 million price tag, it attracted a lot of attention.

When looking for Chicago Loop real estate for sale, you can set your eyes to the clouds to find an apartment similar to the one at the top of Chicago’s World, or you can set your sights a bit lower, and find a nice apartment, starting around the $120,000 range, or anything in between.

As you may well imagine, Chicago’s Loop is some of the highest priced real estate in the city, and vehicle parking comes at a premium. If you buy a condo in the Loop, you can get condos with parking or without parking. If you need parking for your automobile, your condo will come with premium pricing. In some residential buildings, if you choose to not buy parking with your condominium, then you could realistically have $30-40 grand knocked off of the price of your apartment.

The Loop AmenitiesOn Randolph Street, many patrons enjoy the Encore Liquid Lounge. Near the theater district, Encore offers a rich selection of martini’s, beer and wine. One of the Loop’s premier dance clubs is located nearby at 209 West Lake. It is called “Wet”, and it provides a nice mix of techno, rave, hip-hop and contemporary musical tracks for those who enjoy that kind of music. If you are up for an all-nighter, Wet is a good choice, since they hop until 5 a.m. on Saturday night.

The Loop boasts of six major playhouses, a number of music venues, and a couple movie theaters. The Ford Center for Performing Arts is a prime attraction in the Loop, at 24 West Randolph. For a number of years, the Ford Center (previously known as the Oriental Theater) deteriorated, almost to the point of extinction. But in the late 1990’s, new owners took over and ordered major renovations. This historic playhouse, in operation since 1926, was restored and renovated, saving it from the trash heap of history. It is now one of the premier theaters operating in the Chicago Loop today. Roosevelt University opened the Civic Opera House in the 1960’s. Today, visitors can see plays, dance performances, musicals and concerts. Located at 20 North Wacker Drive, it is a popular venue for the performing arts in the Chicago Loop area.

The Loop HighlightsThe palate most often defines the culture of the city, and the Loop area offers a wonderful diversity of fine cuisine and a variety of food choices. The Loop has dine-in facilities and dozens of food delivery options that make it one of the best residential choices for the person who enjoys good food. You can have Chicago Deep Dish Pizza delivered to your front door, or you can take a quick walk to a diverse selection of fine-dining restaurants, carryout delis, pizza joints, ethnic foods, and seafood or BBQ dining. The Loop’s eateries cater to the office crowd that drives in from the suburbs every day, and they provide a rich nightlife to those who live in the neighborhood. Dinner can be combined with an excellent choice of the finest liquor and wine sold in the Chicago area. The Exchequer Restaurant & Pub on Wabash Avenue is an excellent choice for mixing food and drink. It is rumored to once have been a favorite haunt of mobster, Al Capone. It provides a casual atmosphere for food, drink and fun, with a large assortment of sports memorabilia in an English-style atmosphere. Their import beers are another attraction for this pub.

The heart of Chicago’s transportation infrastructure begins in the Loop neighborhood. As such, you can catch public transportation, by rail or by wheel, from the Loop to any part of the city. This neighborhood offers a transportation infrastructure of such stature that one really does not need to own an automobile to get around the neighborhood. You can literally go anywhere you might need to go, even if you don’t own a car.
