Magnificent Mile Condominium Market

The Magnificent Mile is a strip of Michigan Avenue that stretches from the Chicago River north to Oak Street in the Near North neighborhood. Perhaps most widely known as Chicago's largest shopping district, with countless high-end retail stores ranging from Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani to Burberry and Prada, the Magnificent Mile also serves as the western boundary of the Streeterville neighborhood. Along with numerous upscale department stores, the Magnificent Mile contains a fabulous mixture of casual and five-star restaurants, commercial and residential high-rises, and a variety of skyscraping hotels. The Magnificent Mile got its name from well-known real estate developer, Arthur Rubloff, when he declared the strip to be Chicago's most prestigious residential and commercial roadway in the 1940's. Today, if most tourists visiting Chicago aren't staying alongside the Magnificent Mile, it will likely be one of the first stops along the way while experiencing all the Windy City has to offer!
Magnificent Mile Community Amenities
As mentioned, the Magnificent Mile offers the best shopping in all of Chicago. It's quite possible for visitors and residents alike to spend an entire day strolling the Magnificent Mile browsing the hundreds of upscale retailers and department stores scattered around Michigan Avenue. In all, Mag Mile offers 3,100,000 square feet of retail space, 460 stores, 275 restaurants, and 51 hotels. It's also home to the famed Chicago Water Tower, the second oldest water tower in the United States (behind the Louisville Water Tower in Kentucky). While on the Magnificent Mile, be sure to check out all the median planters, which were installed in 1994 as part of a city improvement project. From mid-April to the end of May, hundreds of thousands of luscious and colorful flowers bloom, making the beauty of Michigan Avenue quite a site to see. After a long day of shopping and dining on Michigan Avenue, walk over to Oak Street Beach to enjoy the shores of scenic Lake Michigan in the ultimate urban environment of Chicago.
Michigan Avenue is a six-lane, two-way street that serves as the main thoroughfare for downtown Chicago. Every CTA bus line will connect from Michigan Avenue and only two blocks west, along State Street, is the CTA "L" Red Line. The north boundary of the Magnificent Mile will connect traffic to Lake Shore Drive, allowing for easy in-and-out access to everyday commuters as well as visitors looking to navigate the city. However, tourists and visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation when traveling throughout the city.
