East Ravenswood is a historical district located on Chicago’s north side just west of Uptown and Sheridan Park. As part of the National Register of Historic Places, East Ravenswood was one of Chicago’s first planned neighborhoods and filled with beautiful Victorian 2-story homes and classic brick and stone flats. The official boundaries surrounding East Ravenswood real estate for sale are Lawrence Avenue to the north, Clark Street to the east, Irving Park to the south, and Ravenswood Avenue to the west. The tree-lined streets and almost suburban-like feel make East Ravenswood quite a unique location on Chicago’s north side as each of the surrounding neighborhoods are tightly packed with more vintage medium-to-large sized apartment buildings and fewer single-family houses sitting on large lots and landscaped front yards.

As mentioned, East Ravenswood real estate for sale has an array of single-family homes with exceptional curb-appeal. Many of these Victorian homes sit on large lots with small front yards and even larger back yards. Other amenities include detached garages and a tightly-knit community atmosphere that many other Chicago neighborhoods often seem to lack. What makes East Ravenswood especially appealing, however, is that the vintage apartment and condominium buildings that can be found within the neighborhood boundaries are almost always rehabbed in a way that maintains the history and vintage charm that defines the East Ravenswood community. The Paulina Point Condominiums, located 4507 N. Paulina, are a perfect example of a tastefully gut-rehab project often seen around East Ravenswood. The average sales price for a condo in East Ravenswood sits in the middle $200,000s while the average sales price for a single family home can vary considerably. Typically, a 2-story Victorian home will have a price tag of around $554,000 but depending on updates, lot size, and other amenities, prices can go all the way up to over $800,000.
East Ravenswood real estate for sale sits right next door to the classic and historical music venues of Uptown. Both the Aragon Ballroom and Riviera Theatre are within walking distance to East Ravenswood as well as all the other restaurants, bars, and lounges that surround this vibrant music district. Chase Park is the only Chicago Park District outdoor space that lies within the East Ravenswood boundaries but this medium-sized park does hold a large running-track, two baseball fields, one soccer/football field, four tennis courts, and a 7,481 square foot playground area for the youth of the surrounding community.
The Ravenswood Metra station is located at the northwest corner of East Ravenswood which transports commuters to Waukegan, Kenosha, Winnetka, and the Chicago OTC station. The CTA 81 bus travels east and west across Lawrence Avenue while the 22 bus travels north and south down Clark Street. The closest CTA “L” Stop to East Ravenswood is the Lawrence Red Line station, located at Lawrence and Winthrop Avenue.
