Dearborn Park Condominium Market

Dearborn Park HomeThe Dearborn Park residential complex, consisting of two high-rises on either side of the neighborhood, sprung up in the first wave of construction. Since then, a multitude of housing options have come to populate the horizon including mid-rise lofts, contemporary condominiums, and traditional townhouse complexes outfitted with modern amenities and luxury finishes.

Prospective home buyers considering Dearborn Park Chicago real estate have a great range of options from which to choose. Much of Dearborn Park's residences take the form of traditional townhomes or hip new condo and loft-like spaces. Because of its great location, prices in Dearborn Park can be a bit on the high side, yet there are plenty of properties in an affordable bracket for those not able to break the bank. With several schools and close proximity to The Loop, Dearborn Park attracts a variety of residents. Young working singles take advantage of affordable, conveniently located Dearborn Park foreclosures and properties that double as a good investment in a neighborhood whose popularity is on the rise. Equally, families enjoy the rare combination of the benefits of calm, suburban-like living while remaining in the center of the city.

Dearborn Park Community Amenities

Dearborn Park Real Estate For Sale in Chicago has rectangular borders that run from Polk Street down to West 16th Street and between State and Clark. Bridging Chicago’s Loop and South Loop neighborhoods, Dearborn Park is part of an aggressive revitalization project which is creating many opportunities for desirable new construction purchases. Thoughtfully designed with spacious parks, playgrounds and schools, Dearborn Park has been designed to give unparalleled access to the heart of the city.

The Dearborn Street Station served as a major national rail terminus within Chicago's Near South Side community area. In 1977, a few prominent business leaders convinced a man named George Halas to donate approximately 51 acres of railroad yards for the purposes of redevelopment. This redeveloped part of Chicago became known as Dearborn Park, and the resulting apartments and townhouses that were built along the tree-lined walkways gave way to the concept of urban renewal.

Until about thirty years ago, Dearborn Park was relatively undeveloped. Recognizing housing potential in the vast amount of then vacant rail yards, developers began to devise development schemes. Luckily for current residents, the city also had a hand in Dearborn Park’s establishment. Aiming to ensure the permanent presence of greenery, the Chicago Park District turned a 1.25 acre parcel into a green oasis. Lush with flowers, trees, a tennis court, and an obstacle fitness course, the actual Dearborn Park is the axis upon which the greater Dearborn Park neighborhood revolves.

Dearborn Park Neighborhood Highlights

With the day and night life of the Loop nearby, the Dearborn Park neighborhood is desirable for those who enjoy Chicago's theaters, museums, and galleries. White Sox fans are also drawn to the area due to its proximity to U.S. Cellular Field.

Since Dearborn Park is somewhat of a newly revitalized neighborhood, it is appropriately designed to give residents unmatched access to downtown Chicago as well as some of the city’s most popular attractions; namely, Soldier Field, The Shedd Aquarium, The Field Museum, Navy Pier, and Grant Park. A fairly small neighborhood makes for a lack of dining options in comparison to other downtown areas, yet its residential appeal, as it lies nestled just south of the Loop, is what makes Dearborn Park so unique. Instead of storefront shops similar to those of nearby neigborhoods, Dearborn Parkers head over to the one-stop shopper's favorite: Target. Cotton Tail Park, Park 479, and Roosevelt Park are also all great places to spend an afternoon outdoors, and there are plenty of playground options for the little ones to enjoy as well.

The main source of public transportation, the State & Roosevelt Red Line subway stop, is centrally located at State Street and Roosevelt Road. There is also a Green Line stop a half block east on Roosevelt Road and the Library and LaSalle Brown Line stops three blocks north of Polk Street. Access to both Lakeshore Drive and the 90/94 Expressway is made easy from Roosevelt Road while the #12, #18, #146, and #192 bus lines also travel alongside Roosevelt. The #29, #62, #129, and #146 bus lines travel up and down Clark Street, making for a very hassle-free trip to the Loop or any other part of Downtown Chicago.
