Central Station Condominium Market

Central Station real estate is located within the South Loop area of Chicago and is the largest lakefront community in the city. Central Station is comparable more to a small city than an area. It encompasses the former rail yards and air space rights east of Indiana Avenue between Roosevelt Road and 18th Street and now also encompasses the strip between Michigan and Indiana avenues. Complete with an 80-acre residential community located at the southern tip of Grant Park and east of Michigan Avenue, Central Station is one of Chicago's fastest-growing areas, with a wide variety of housing opportunities for sale. With not a detail overlooked, Central Station real estate has promised to be the wave of the future. World-class architecture is complemented with wide, tree-lined boulevards ripe with recreational and open spaces and numerous parks, bringing the benefits of suburban living to the heart of the city. Central Station real estate offers a wide range of property types for sale and living opportunities, all imbued with elegance and grace. From luxury condominiums outfitted with pools, cardio centers, a full-time concierge and sweeping lakefront vistas, to lofts, rentals and townhomes for sale, there is truly something for everyone.

Central Station Real Estate

Recognizing the tremendous business opportunities Central Station enables, countless retail amenities have blossomed in the neighborhood, leaving Central Station home owners with their every necessity accounted for. Even better, Central Station Chicago real estate is also conveniently located for Chicago's many Loop-based professionals, and, adjacent to both Museum Campus and Lake Michigan, it is equally well-positioned for access to Chicago's cultural and natural treasures.

Central Station was developed by a partnership consisting of The Fogelson Companies, veteran Chicago developers, and Forest City Enterprises Inc., one of the nation's leading real estate companies. Among the earliest residents of Central Station was former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. In 1993, Mayor Daley somewhat shocked the city of Chicago when he sold the family's Bridgeport home and relocated to the South Loop's Central Station neighborhood.

Central Station View

Prior to the planned development led by Gerald W. Fogelson, co-chairman and CEO of the Central Station Development Corporation, Central Station was an intercity passenger terminal. Fogelson proposed a plan to overhaul the warehouse district with a modern residential district and then successfully acquired the property and subcontracted residential as well as mixed-use development. In the early 1990's, Central Station began to assume its residential shape with the construction of luxury townhomes. More recently, this lakefront neighborhood has experienced rapid construction of an increasing amount of luxury townhomes, high-rise condominiums, rental apartments, and retail stores.

Central Station Community Amenities

With its location just across the street from top Chicago destinations such as Soldier Field, the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and the Adler Planetarium, there is no shortage of things to do once settled into fabulous new Central Station Chicago real estate for sale.

Once within this newer residential area, one will find plenty of landscaped walkways perfect for walking the dog, and the lush greenery of Webster Park is only a short distance across the street from Museum Park townhomes. while spending time in the neighborhood, be sure to check out the rustic Italian dishes served at Gioco, one of Chicago Magazine's best eateries, located at 1312 S Wabash.

Roosevelt Road acts as the main thoroughfare around Central Station, allowing for access to both the I-90/94 expressway and Lakeshore Drive. The Roosevelt CTA "L" train stop located at the intersection of Roosevelt and State services the red, green, and orange lines. Conveniently, the Metra Museum Campus/11th Street stop offers transportation to Michigan City, IN and University Park, as does the Randolph Street Metra stop.
