Cathedral District Condominium Market
The small portion of Chicago surrounding St. James, the Holy Name Cathedral, and the Fourth Presbyterian Church, recently christened as the Cathedral District, is defined by 19th century Gothic architecture with a not-so-subtle mix of 20th century residential and commercial high-rises. The Cathedral District boundaries can be outlined by Michigan Avenue to the east, LaSalle Street to the west, Ontario Street to the south, and Delaware to the north. It wasn't until after the Great Chicago Fire that the area surrounding each of these religious institutions started gaining momentum as one of Chicago's most prominent neighborhoods. The high-ranking residences of the renowned McCormick family, well-to-do Chicago banker Samuel Nickerson, railway industrialist Ransom R. Cable, and Chicago's first mayor William Butler Ogden all were built within the confines of the Cathedral District, and both the Cable and Nickerson residences remain Chicago landmarks today.
Cathedral District Community Amenities

Given Chicago's Cathedral District is located in the heart of Downtown Chicago and right next-door to the famed Gold Coast neighborhood, some of the hottest restaurants are right within walking distance from all parts of the neighborhood. Among the local favorites are Lawry's, Giordano's Pizza, and the Quartino Restaurante & Wine Bar, but the Cathedral District also offers some of the hottest nightlife in Chicago, with Excalibur and the Vertigo Sky Lounge right around the corner. Every summer, residents in the Cathedral District can also look forward to the Children's Art Fair, where kids of all ages showcase over 500 pieces of art in a unique presentation of talented Chicago youth.
Michigan Avenue borders Cathedral District real estate to the east and every major CTA bus line can be caught alongside this Chicago thoroughfare. In addition, the CTA Red Line runs underneath State Street, the Cathedral District's western boundary, with stops at Grand and Chicago avenues. Access to Lakeshore Drive is also just a short distance up Michigan Avenue, making the Cathedral District one of Chicago's most convenient neighborhoods when it comes to public transportation.
