Your New Secret Not-So-Secret Spot on the Mag Mile
Craft cocktails and a seasonal menu with an unbeatable view of the Mag Mile. Oh, and there’s a Saks Fifth Avenue pretty close by. Welcome to Sophie’s, tucked away on the 7th Floor of Saks (sophies.com, 700 N. Michigan Ave.) Yes, you will see ladies who lunch. And corporate types at client meetings. But that’s where the similarities to other restaurants in high-end retail stores end. You see, Sophie’s isn’t just an afterthought to wind down a day of binge shopping. In one year, this little gem has already become a destination in its own right, and deservedly so.
The food and beverage menus are seasonal, and every effort is made to use locally-sourced ingredients, including spirits from Chicago distilleries. The hand-crafted cocktails are creative but still incredibly well-balanced, including the Sharada, a gin-based drink with notes of pear and thyme. If it’s been one of those days, ask for the Old Fashioned- Slightly Different: rye, house-made maple bacon, and fire. Yup, fire. With breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch offerings and a new winter menu, the food is thoughtful and equally tasty, and service is consistently exceptional.
But don’t take our word for it. From 1/30/15-2/12/15, you can indulge in a special Chicago Restaurant Week lunch menu (http://chicago.simpleviewcrm.com/docs/amenities/CRW2015_Sophie's.pdf)... just don’t blame us if you need the rest of the afternoon off after a couple of those flaming cocktails.
