Because most of the business we do is in downtown Chicago neighborhoods like the Gold Coast, Streeterville, River North and the West Loop, it’s not often we blog about neighborhood events up on Chicago’s far north side. But given the uniqueness and creativity to the new Starbucks that opened up in Edgewater today, we just couldn’t resist.
Situated at the corner of Broadway and Devon and just steps from Loyola University Chicago is a brand new Starbucks location that not only has an interesting design, but a true on-the-go concept that specifically caters to college kids walking to and from class or biking to work. The structure itself is made from a half dozen recycled shipping containers and various other recycled materials to add to the distinctive exterior, while inside…well…aside from the staff inside brewing up your favorite latte or coffee drink, there really is no inside. What little seating the new Edgewater Starbucks has is all outdoors, while all orders are taken at couple different walk-up windows that are also out in the elements.
The new building is of course LEED certified, and while not everyone loves the idea of sipping on your coffee outside in the middle of the harsh Chicago winters, we absolutely love the creativity behind Chicago’s new shipping container Starbucks.
Looking for a new home or rental near Loyola and the new shipping container Starbucks in Edgewater?
