Local Business Spotlight: Antique Taco in Wicker Park
Wicker Park is mostly known around town for its vibrant nightlife, a diverse restaurant and art scene, and a distinct ambiance that’s unlike almost anything else in the city. Situated within this fashionable west side neighborhood is some of Chicago’s most desirable housing, several of the area’s most fashionable art galleries, and an array of unique locally owned businesses that truly define today’s Wicker Park landscape.
Among those unique Wicker Park establishments is Antique Taco, which is located at 1360 N. Milwaukee in the heart of Bucktown-Wicker Park. Unlike your average Chicago taqueria however, Antique Taco cleverly combines two adored passions of the husband and wife team behind this out-of-the-box restaurant concept—antiquing and cooking traditional Mexican-inspired food.
The restaurant’s chic-design showcases items that were either hand-picked by Ashley Ortiz, the Creative Director and co-founder of Antique Taco, or custom-built by FoundRe: Furnishes, a premier furniture and salvage store that custom builds furnishings from all kinds of recycled materials found locally in the Chicago area.
But before you get too distracted by Antique Taco's old-fashioned nostalgia, the décor isn’t the only special aspect about this Milwaukee Avenue taco joint. The food is brought to you by Rick Ortiz and is mostly prepared using ingredients from local Midwest sources. Just some of the mouthwatering menu items include a wide variety of taco choices, mixed baskets, and even some delicious desserts that are the perfect cap to a hearty Mexican-inspired meal.
