Chicago Neighborhoods With The Best Restaurants

It is no secret that Chicago has a reputation for being one of the best food cities in the country. The Windy City offers a diverse array of casual and fine dining establishments that attract locals and visitors alike. Whether you are in search of a traditional steakhouse, sushi and seafood, Korean-fusion, or Greek cuisine, you are sure to find it in Chicago. These noteworthy Chicago neighborhoods are filled with some of the city’s most sought-after restaurants, ensuring your taste buds are anything but bored.

West Loop

The West Loop is home to one of Chicago’s most legendary dining districts, Randolph Restaurant Row, as well as a wide assortment of new and noteworthy eateries. The esteemed culinary neighborhood boasts prestigious institutions like Red Light, Belly Q, and Girl & the Goat, and it also features more casual restaurants with big reputations, like J.P. Graziano Grocery. Visitors to Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood can take their pick among the city’s finest restaurants, including a number of steakhouses, Italian eateries, pizzerias, and sushi spots. For those who don’t mind spending a little extra for a particularly indulgent meal, West Loop is undeniably the go-to destination in the Windy City. West Loop patrons should also keep a look out for bold and creative murals that serve as beloved neighborhood landmarks.

Fulton Market

Formerly a neighborhood made up of warehouses, Fulton Market has evolved into one of Chicago's most desirable culinary hot spots. The neighborhood is home to some of the city’s most creative restaurants, artisanal cafes, local breweries, and must-visit cocktail bars. Fulton Market is technically located within Chicago’s West Loop, but its food scene is entirely its own. Visitors can enjoy a casual bite or a fine dining affair; there are so many options from which to choose. Those in search of a luxurious culinary experience will want to check out Oriole, which features a nearly $300 tasting menu, Swift & Sons, with its traditional steakhouse feel, or Omakase Takeya for world-class sushi. Everyday fare can be found at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, Publican Quality Meats, and Ramen Takeya, which offer equally delicious but more laid-back menus.

Wicker Park

Though Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood is ever-changing, it continues to remain one of the city’s best dining areas. Home to Lou Malnati’s legendary deep-dish pizza and other classic Chicago hotspots, Wicker Park offers an abundance of delicious offerings, and a stroll through the neighborhood’s Six Corners intersection will take you past the best it has to offer. Wicker Park has no shortage of pizzerias, and visitors will have a hard time choosing which style of pizza to enjoy on any given day. The neighborhood also offers some of the city’s best pho at Phodega, and there are a number of Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants that bring some southern flair to the region. In Wicker Park, cheap eats abound, the perfect example of which is BIG & little’s Restaurant, which serves burgers, tacos, and sandwiches for the best prices in town.

Lincoln Park

The dining scene in Chicago’s Lincoln Park has received an influx of attention in recent years mainly due to its unique offerings that simply can’t be found anywhere else in the city. While thin-crust pizza is not necessarily synonymous with Chicago, Pat’s Pizza and Ristorante dishes out some of the best. Lincoln Park’s Del Seoul delivers the perfect combination of Mexican and Korean fusion in the form of tacos, wings, bibimbap and dumplings, offering flavor combinations that are truly one-of-a-kind. Between Frances Brunchery and Batter & Berries, the Lincoln Park neighborhood is one of the city’s undisputed brunch heavyweights. Other noteworthy restaurants in the area include Athenian Room, Kapitan, North Pond, and Tandoor Char House.

West Town

Known as one of the most prominent food destinations in all of Chicago, West Town is recognized for the diversity of dining options and affordable eateries it contains. Many would argue that West Town’s Chicago Avenue rivals Randolph Restaurant Row as the city’s culinary epicenter. The neighborhood is home to some of the most noteworthy restaurants in all of Chicago, including the intimate Temporis, serving up world-class American cuisine, Spanish seafood haven, Porto, and French-German steakhouse, Boeufhaus. For more laid-back, casual fare, West Town’s Three House and Jeong are certainly worth a visit.
