Chicago Events in May 2014
May is usually the perfect month to start gearing up for outdoor events and activities. Although many Chicagoans are antsy to get out and about as soon as the calendar switched over to April, the weather seems to be a bit milder around this time of year, and events, activities, and other fun-filled things to do really start to pick up as we kick off one of our favorite months of the year.
To help you get an early start to planning out May 2014, here’s a quick list of things happening all around Chicago throughout the entire month; and as you can see, there’s a lot going on that should keep you busy all month long!
Chicago’s Farmers Markets Begin!
Combined, Chicago’s Farmers Markets bring more than 70 vendors that specialize in fruit, vegetables, plants, and flowers. No matter where you live in Chicago, there’s likely a Farmer’s Market happening somewhere close by. Here are just a few of our favorite stops along the Chicago Farmer’s Market tour:
Daley Plaza Farmer’s Market

Lincoln Park Farmer’s Market
Armitage & Orchard
Farmer’s Market at the Museum of Contemporary Art
220 East Chicago Avenue

Chicago Kids & Kites Festival

Happening on Cricket Hill near Montrose Harbor, the Chicago Kids & Kites Fest is a celebration of kid-friendly activities which include flying FREE paper kites, face painting, making balloon animals and sculptures, and all kinds of fun arts and crafts activities. A can’t miss event for kids of all ages!
Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade
Does it really get any better than Memorial Day? Along with honoring all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of Summer and for our money, it doesn’t get much better than a Memorial Day Weekend BBQ, right after Chicago’s annual parade which is on Saturday May 24th.
Millennium Park Music Series
