The Southport Corridor Offers Chicagoans an Exceptional Lifestyle

What makes a neighborhood on Chicago’s north side great? Does being located near one of Chicago’s CTA train lines set one location apart from another? Perhaps it’s an abundance of delicious restaurants, boutique clothing shops, quaint little coffee houses, and other fun-filled living amenities that Chicago’s home buyers seek in their next moving destination.

In reality, I think most would agree that it’s the perfect combination of public transportation, a variety of locally-owned establishments, and a strong “Walk Score” that truly makes a Chicago neighborhood stand out among so many different communities around the city. And while numerous Chicago neighborhoods fit this high standard, perhaps none can match the true sense of community better than the Southport Corridor.

Whether it’s taking in a critically-acclaimed foreign film at The Music Box Theatre, enjoying a night out at The Blue Bayou--Chicago’s best know destination for Cajun and New Orleans cuisine, or simply enjoying a nice evening stroll down Southport Avenue taking in the great neighborhood vibe, the Southport Corridor is one of Chicago’s true gems.

Bounded by Grace Street to the north, Southport Avenue to the west, Racine Avenue to the east, and Belmont Avenue to the south, Chicago’s Southport Corridor is the perfect place to call home for condo buyers and renters of all ages. Students, young professionals, middle-aged families, and many of Chicago’s affluent elite all add to the Southport Corridor’s unique and diverse blend of residents, while the strong mix of bars, cafés, and high-end eateries cater to nearly every demographic.

Southport Corridor Brown LineIf it’s a beer and a burger before a Cubs game or to watch the Bears play on Sunday, the recently opened Wheel House may be the spot for you, but if a more elegant, high-end atmosphere is what you’re in the mood for after a busy day at the office, give Tango Sur or Deleece a try, which is only a short walk north from Addison & Southport Avenue.

And if you think the Southport Corridor is one of Chicago’s best lifestyle neighborhoods, it’s equally as impressive for dog owners as well. Not only do the surrounding tree-lined streets make for the perfect place to walk your four-legged friends, Dog-A-Holics also has a strong presence in the area, with both a small pet shop and a full-service boarding and grooming center conveniently located on Southport Ave.

So if you’re having indecision about which Chicago neighborhood is right for you, your family, and of course, your pet(s), spend an evening enjoying what Southport Avenue has offer and experience the best in Windy City living.
