UNION RIDGE REAL ESTATE
The quiet, peaceful streets of Union Ridge have a variety of housing options that range from the typical Chicago bungalow residence to a traditional Victorian 2-story. Most Union Ridge residents enjoy the tree-lined streets and calm residential vibe of the neighborhood and it’s this family-oriented atmosphere that makes this location a perfect destination for young and growing families. Most single family homes that pop up on the Union Ridge real estate market will price around the mid $300s but some of the larger, higher-end homes can have a sales price of close to $800,000. There are some vintage brick condominium buildings and depending on the updates to each condo, the average sales price should be right around $140,000.
UNION RIDGE ENTERTAINMENT & OUTDOOR SPACE
The only exception to the tightly packed residential streets in Union Ridge is the short strip of Higgins Road that runs right through the center of the neighborhood. Along Higgins Road, residents often take advantage of the scattered restaurants and various other small businesses serving the surrounding area. Nick’s Gyros is one of the favorites among Union Ridge locals, as some of the best Greek food on Chicago’s north side is served at this friendly neighborhood eatery. Mario’s Cafe is also located within the boundaries of Union Ridge and acts as one of Chicago’s few Bulgarian restaurants. The array of awesome Southeastern Europe delicacies served at Mario's are sure to make a restaurant regular out of anyone willing to give this place a try, so be prepared when stopping in for the first time!
UNION RIDGE TRANSPORTATION
The major CTA bus lines in Union Ridge include the 88 bus which travels alongside Higgins Road, the 86 bus which travels north and south down Nagle Avenue, and the 90 bus which also travels down Harlem Avenue-also a north and south line. Access to the Kennedy expressway is a breeze in Union Ridge as this interstate highway acts as the neighborhoods northern boundary. Exit ramps are located just off Higgins Road at Harlem Avenue. The CTA Blue Line also services Union Ridge as the Harlem-O’Hare Blue Line “L” Stop is located at the intersection of Higgins and Harlem. This makes accessibility to O’Hare Internation Airport especially convenient as this “L” station is only 3 stops from the airport.
