Once a part of the River North neighborhood, River West has blossomed into a fabulous portion of Chicago that is now considered a separate neighborhood, occupying the west banks of the Chicago River at its southern branch. Like other neighborhoods surrounding the downtown Loop, River West was once a warehouse district that was transformed into a thriving residential neighborhood, containing an abundance of converted loft residences and rehabbed condominiums. River West is unique in that it is located within a close proximity to the Chicago Loop but is also known for providing a bit calmer and quieter lifestyle than what downtown Chicago typically offers. Prime River West real estate for sale is quickly becoming a top destination for both home buyers and renters of Chicago and its thin boundaries between the Chicago River and the Kennedy Expressway that stretch from Grand to Division are quickly being developed.
River West has an on-going reputation for exquisite art galleries as well as an array of fine dining restaurants and cafés. River West favorites that attract Chicagoans from all over the city include Avenue M, where patrons enjoy a five-star prepared meal or the perfectly blended martini and the mouthwatering Italian dishes served at Timo, located at 464 N. Halsted. Also in the neighborhood are the exceptional artworks of the Woman Made Gallery—a gallery formed in the early 90s to raise awareness of talented female artists who often get overlooked in the art world due to their gender. The culture of River West is certainly just as diverse as the real estate and it isn’t uncommon for new residents to stay in the neighborhood throughout their time living in Chicago
