Portage Park is a moderate sized northwest Chicago neighborhood bordered by Jefferson Park, Old Irving Park, Dunning, and Cragin. According to the 2000 census, Portage Park has the largest Polish population of any Chicago neighborhood and what is primarily a residential neighborhood; Portage Park also contains two large commercial districts with the first being the Six Corners Shopping District and the other second located at Belmont and Central Avenue. The official boundaries of Portage Park are Narragansett Avenue to the east, Roscoe Street to the south, Cicero Avenue to the east, and Montrose Avenue to the north.

PORTAGE PARK TRANSPORTATION

Access to the Kennedy Expressway is made easy from Portage Park from both Irving Park Road and Montrose Avenue. The CTA 80 bus runs east and west across Irving Park Road and the 78 bus runs parallel across Montrose. The main bus line running north and south through Portage Park is the CTA 85 bus which has stops all along Central Avenue.
