Lincoln Park has a reputation for being one of Chicago’s most desirable and affluent neighborhoods with exquisite townhomes, classic brownstone flats, and luxurious upscale condominiums filling the tree-lined neighborhood streets. In addition, the largest Catholic University in the United States, DePaul University, adds to Lincoln Park’s charm with rows of historic Nineteenth-Century buildings and a beautifully landscaped campus. Much of how we recognize today’s Lincoln Park can be attributed to the formation of the Lincoln Park Conservation Association in 1954, which allowed for constant rehabilitation and historic preservation to property within the neighborhood. Though Lincoln Park’s boundaries can sometimes differ depending on the source, the neighborhoods surrounding this prominent location are Lakeview to the north, Logan Square to the west, the Near North neighborhood to the south, and of course, Lake Michigan to the east.

LINCOLN PARK REAL ESTATE

Some of Chicago’s most expensive and historic gray stone and condo residences can be found in Lincoln Park. But despite these classic favorites, new construction townhomes have recently been the real estate of choice for many buyers looking in Lincoln Park, with upscale townhome communities such as Hartland Park and Wrightwood Court having huge success on the Chicago real estate market. Nearly any form of real estate can be found around Lincoln Park which can range from a small vintage apartment building near DePaul University to a chic high-rise apartment with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Average sales prices in Lincoln Park tend to lean towards the high-end with a condo typically selling for around $429,000 and a townhome sales price coming in at just under $600,000. Even the average vintage condominium in Lincoln Park has an average sales price of approximately $440,000 but more affordable options can certainly be found with a little research and a little patience.

Lincoln Park is jam-packed with entertainment and outdoor activities to keep its residents busy. The 1200-acre Lincoln Park lining the lush green space of Chicago’s lakeshore provides beautiful beaches, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, jogging & biking paths, and terrific views of downtown Chicago. Two additional Lincoln Park attractions include the Lincoln Park Zoo at 2200 N. Cannon Drive, and the Lincoln Park Conservatory at 2000 N. Racine Avenue but are only just a small sample size of leisure options around the community. If looking to grab a bite to eat in the neighborhood, just about any style of restaurant will be a short distance away. Whether its the fancy atmosphere of Charlie Trotter’s or the quaint environment of Argo Tea, the Lincoln Park dining scene suites just about any personality. Lincoln Park Transportation Several CTA bus lines travel the streets of Lincoln Park. The 72 bus heads east and west across North Avenue while the 22 and 36 busses run north and south down Clark Street. The CTA Red Line “L” train has a stop at North and Clybourn in Lincoln Park with the Brown Line stopping at Armitage, Fullerton, Diversey, and Sedgwick Avenues.
