Buena Park should be considered one of Chicago’s best small-sized lakefront neighborhoods in the city. Nestled between Wrigleyville and Uptown, Buena Park gives residents a close proximity to the historic music venues of Uptown as well as the fun-filled atmosphere surrounding Wrigley Field in the summertime. Its boundaries run from Iriving Park Road to the south, Montrose Avenue to the north, Kenmore Avenue to the west, and Lake Michigan to the east and perhaps the neighborhoods most recognized landmark is beautifully landscaped and intricate architecture of the St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic church and school.

Buena Park is filled with medium sized apartment buildings, red brick courtyard condominiums, traditional single-family homes and historic mansion residences dating back to the early 1900s. In fact, Buena Park’s breathtaking Hutchinson Street was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1977 for the fabulous Prairie-style architecture of the homes designed by renowned architect George Maher. Buyers looking in Buena Park will likely have the most success with one or two bedroom condominiums as most single family homes here don’t pop up in the Chicago real estate market often. The average sales price for a Buena Park condo comes in at just over $200,000 with three bedroom purchase prices leveling out at around $325,000.
Buena Park is primarily a residential neighborhood but still houses a few Chicago gems. The Bar on Buena is the neighborhood favorite café-style pub and the famed Fornello Trattoria on Irving Park Road acts as Chicago’s Italian hot spot. Dog owners can enjoy the Challenger Bark Dog Park and Montrose Beach is well-within walking distance for some summertime fun. Buena Park is also close to the Lakeshore Trail providing awesome outdoor exercise to avid walkers, joggers, and bikers within the neighborhood.
The CTA Red Line is nearest to Buena Park with the Sheridan Road stop being just a half block south of Irving Park and the Wilson stop one block north of Montrose Avenue. The 78 bus runs along Montrose Avenue and the 80 bus line along Irving Park. If driving to other parts of Chicago, Lakeshore drive may be the fastest option which can be accesses from both Irving Park Road and Montrose Avenue.
