Chicago's Newest West Loop Amenity

Residents of the West Loop neigborhood now have the short remainder of summer to enjoy the neighborhood’s newest attraction, Adams & Sangamon Park. With an overall price tag of $19.5 million and planning in the works since early 2008, there’s little doubt you’ve heard of the Chicago Park District’s newest recreational beauty, but now adults, children and pets alike finally get to enjoy it. Upon entering, park-goers have the opportunity to walk through oversized semi-squares which are tilted and strategically placed adding a very attractive, modern design aspect to the 2.3 acre space. At first glance, this artistic entry way appears to be something one might see in the latest animated 3-D movie, but if that’s not enough to attract the little ones, perhaps the sporadic mist spraying from all sides of the unique entrance or the custom built playground equipment will be. The park is unquestionably kid and pet friendly while giving adults a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a sufficient amount of grass-space for a relaxing picnic and breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline. And regardless of the questions people may have for the astronomical amount of money spent on such a project, the Park District insists that the overwhelming amount condos built in the area were enough to generate extra tax revenue to aid construction costs. If one thing is certain however, local designers of the Site Design Group certainly got it right making the marvelous neighborhood of the West Loop an even more attractive destination for homebuyers.
